White Star Records, the new label set up by John Mitchell and Chris Hillman have announced that their first signing to the label is to be ex-Touchstone vocalist Kim Seviour.
Kim announced her decision to leave Touchstone in late 2015 and performed farewell shows with the band in November of that year. Despite leaving the band Kim has been keen to continue making music in some capacity and the deal with White Star gives her the opportunity to do that. She has been working on an album with White Star co-owner John Mitchell, producing & co-writing in his own Outhouse Recording Studio. The album will be released later in the year and in the meantime a one-off track, ‘Fantasise To Realise’ which won’t be on the album, was released as a single in March 2016. The single is available as a digital release and a limited edition signed one track CD.
‘Fantasise To Realise’ is a track, written by Swordfish from Astralasia that John & Chris were working on. They asked Kim to add some backing vocals but she liked it so much she insisted on doing lead vocals too and the results were so good that it had to be released.
Kim also appears as backing vocalist on two tracks on White Star’s first release – John Mitchell’s ‘The Nostalgia Factory’ EP.
Kim Seviour joined the band, Touchstone as lead vocalist in 2007 and recorded four albums with them. The band toured extensively and Kim gained an excellent reputation for her incredible vocals and stage presence. She decided to leave Touchstone in 2015 and was signed as a solo artist to White Star Records in early 2016. Kim has received many accolades over the years and was voted in the Top 10 in Prog Magazine’s Woman Of The Year and Female Vocalist Of The Year in their latest poll.
Full details of Kim's debut album 'Recovery Is Learning' released on 28th July 2017 were announced by Prog Mag. Full details here
