Kepler Ten - Random Number Generator - Episode 1

Random Number Generator: Ep.1 begins a new chapter for Kepler Ten. The follow-up to 2020's A New Kind of Sideways sees James Durand, Steve Hales, and Alistair Bell kick off a new series of digital releases that bring to life drummer Hales' sinister story of escapism and addiction.

Set in the near future, Episode 1 of RNG introduces our everyman protagonist, casting him between the worlds of reality and virtual reality as he is drawn into a neon-lit, digital arena where the choices he makes affect the very real people that he cares most about.

Hales: "RNG explores the dual lives we live, our real and online personas. It follows the story of a regular guy as he is drawn behind the digital veil and into something far more sinsiter than he ever imagined... This series is a great excuse for us to indulge our love of concept albums, comic books and 1980s science fiction, giving it a modern twist along the way."

Due to its episodic nature the Random Number Generator series is set for digital release only and subsequent episodes will run alongside the band's forthcoming regular albums which will have physical releases. The lead single Fracture was released on 29th August 2025.

Having contributed heavily to RNG both in the writing and recording Alistair has now parted ways with the band and James and Steve welcome back original guitarist Richie Cahill. Richie, last heard on the Kepler Ten's debug album Delta-v, has rejoined permanently but the band felt that it would be fitting to release Episode 1 with Alistair's guitar parts to mark the time and effort that went into this recording and to appropriately close that chapter of the band.

Tour preparations are well underway and the band are putting together long set to incorporate previously underperformed songs from A New Kind of Sideways as well as tracks from Random Number Generator and favourites from Delta-v. Tour dates will be announced soon.
